The crowd are excited to see the start of the bowt. Liam Shanon opens with some vicious leg kicks, and then secures a take down, quickly progressing to Cathal Pendred's back. Unable to find the rear naked choke he gives some ground and pound. Cathal Pendred turns the tables and finds himself in Liam Shannon's guard.

Liam Shannon remains active off his back and a cut is visible on the brow of Cathal Pendred. The tables turn once more and Liam Shannon takes Cathal Pendred's back. Cathal Pendred escapes and pauses momentarily in the half guard of Liam Shannon. The crowd cheer the fighters on. Both fighters return to their feet for the closing seconds of Round 1.

Liam Shannon's head kick clips Cathal Pendred, but results in being taken down. Liam Shannon is active on his back constantly landing right elbows to the brow of Cathal Pendred. Cathal Pendred seems unable to land any GnP of his own, despite being in the dominant position. Cathal Pendred continues to give short blows which Liam Shannon seems to nullify.

Cathal Pendred slips a big overhand right from Liam Shannon. Cathal Pendred drives Liam Shannon up into the air & slams him to the canvas. The fighters return to their fight and Cathal Pendred knees Liam Shannon while in the clinch. The pace has slowed a little, but Cathal Pendred continues to give small punches while in Liam Shannon's half guard. The fight ends with Cathal Pendred in full mount, raining down punches to Liam Shannon.
Cathal Pendred wins the contest via unanimous decision and is the Cage Contender's welterweight champion.
